MFTWSC73 Wednesday Stamp Club Challenge
This is my second posting for the day. Wow, I am on a roll and feelin crafty! This card was created for the MFT Wednesday Stamp Club. Below is the sketch created by MFT that I needed to follow for the challenge.
For this card I used a paper line that is new to me. It is "Pretty Party" by Crate Paper. I have been dying to get my hands on this paper line, and I finally bought the 6x6 paper pad from RibbonCarousel. I used my beautiful and may I mention first stamp set from There She Goes called Poppies illustrated by Chris Dark. I highly recommend this site for stamps. Not only are they beautiful and incredibly creative, but the images stamp out perfectly crisp.
I watercolored the image using Tim Holtz Distress Markers. I felt there were enough flowers in the card with the stamped image and the background paper, so I made 3D butterflies instead for my embellishments. They were so simple to make . I just stamped the butterfly image on to colored cardstock, free hand cut them out and bent the wings upwards to make them pop off the card. I then used Stickles glitter in Waterfall, Orange Peel, and Tropical Tangerine to accent the butterflies and the image.
I finished the inside of the card with space for a hand written message with the same materials as the outside.
I have to say this was was one of my favorite cards to make thus far. I think it was a combination of the paper that I love so much and the beautiful stamp set. I am a sucker for anything girlie and flowery! I hope you enjoy this card. Please come back and visit for future postings!
TSG 157 Happy Birthday! Sketch Challenge
Hi everyone! It has been such a hectic and long week at work. I am so glad it is the weekend, and to have Monday off as well. WooHoo! I had a lot of fun making this new card for the There She Goes Weekly Challenge. It also happens to be Jessica's (Owner of TSG) birthday week, so I decided to send a little birthday love her way. The challenge this week was to make a card based on the sketch shown below.
I made the card using a brown cardstock base from American Crafts. This, BTW, is my favorite plain cardstock because of the solid color core. I just prefer not to have the white core showing when I cut my cardstock up. Not to mention that it is just a good quality cardstock overall. I used Echo Parks This & That Graceful by Lori Whitlock paper line for my patterned paper. LOVE this line of paper! The stamped image and sentiments used were Stampendous Clear Stamps BIRTHDAY BRACKETS ssc132 collection. The twine is The Twinery twine in Buttercream Light Yellow from RibbonCarousel.
I once again used Tim Holtz Distress Markers to watercolor the image. I love these markers, and just can't use them enough lately. I haven't invested in alcohol based markers yet, but I am planning on doing so soon. I added a little sparkle to the flames with Stickles in Yellow.
The inside is finished using all of the same products mentioned above.
I hope all of you enjoy this card and have a wonderful Memorial Day weekend. Happy Birthday Jessica!
Weekly TSG156 Challenge
Hi there again, and Happy Sunday! It has been cloudy all day here, so I thought it would be the perfect day to make my first TSG challenge card. I am happy with how it turned out. I must admit it is more simple than my cards usually are, but I really wanted the focal point to be the great paper line. I used a 6x6 paper collection from We Are Memory Keepers called "Down the Boardwalk". It is so warm with all of the yellow, teals, and reds but it also has a worn beachy feel. It makes me long to feel my feet in the sand and go searching for shells! The sentiment and shells are from the coordinating stamps that go along with the paper line. I used Spellbinders Labels Eight to cut and emboss the sentiment. I brought out the gray accents in the paper with a nice light gray grosgrain ribbon from May Arts.
I used Tim Holtz Distress Markers in Rusty Hinge and Scattered straw to watercolor the shells. I then added a little bling to them with Stickles in Tropical Tangerine. The inside was finished using the same paper and stamp line. I used Worn Lipstick and Mustard Seed Distress Markers for the small flower. I really enjoyed making this card, and I hope you all enjoy it as well. Happy crafting!
